What made you join Tile Hill, and what's kept you here?

Having spent more than 20 years in local government and regional recruitment, the sector gave me so much. It helped me develop skills I'm still drawing on today and gave me a real understanding of the difference great leadership can make to a place. When the opportunity at Tile Hill came along, I saw it as a chance to use that experience on a national level, supporting organisations across the country while bringing the perspective of someone who understands the sector firsthand.

When I did my research and spoke to people already working at Tile Hill, there was a genuine focus on people, not just clients, but candidates too. There was a real emphasis on candidate experience and helping people navigate some of the most important career decisions they'll make. It felt much more about relationships, trust and making a difference than sales.

What's kept me here is seeing those values lived out in practice. The way we care about candidates, the honesty we bring to conversations, and the support colleagues give one another all match what I was told when I joined. It's incredibly rewarding to play a small part in helping talented people step into roles where they can make a real impact, and that sense of purpose is what keeps me here.

What's surprised you most about working here?

What has surprised me most is how true the organisation has stayed to what I was told when I joined. People spoke about the importance of relationships, candidate care and doing the right thing, and I've genuinely found that to be the case. There's a real focus on quality and trust, which aligns closely with my own values.

From a career perspective, I've had opportunities to work on projects and with organisations that I would never have encountered otherwise. Every campaign is different, and I've learned a huge amount about the public sector since stepping out of it, working with such a wide range of leaders and councils across the country. It's challenged me, developed my confidence and broadened my perspective, while allowing me to stay connected to a sector I'm passionate about.

What would you tell someone thinking about joining the team?

I'd say come with an open mind. I joined with more than 20 years' experience in local government and recruitment, but I've still learned a huge amount.

The culture is supportive, you're trusted to use your experience, and there's a genuine focus on people and relationships rather than simply hitting targets. If you enjoy variety, want to keep developing professionally, and are motivated by making a difference, it's a great place to do all of that while working alongside good people.
