What made you join Tile Hill, and what's kept you here?

My background is in politics and the wider public sector, so the work itself was always going to appeal. What really stood out was finding a recruitment business that is genuinely values-led and focused on making a positive impact. That's not always what people expect from the industry, and meeting the team before I joined only reinforced that impression.

I've stayed because every day gives me the opportunity to work with senior public sector leaders who are making a real difference to their organisations and communities. Alongside that, I've been part of a team that trusts and enables people to succeed, rather than simply managing them. It's an environment that encourages you to develop, contribute and keep growing.

What's surprised you most about working here?

What has stood out most is how consistently people across the business are motivated by the same thing: helping public services make a difference for residents and communities. That culture comes from the top and genuinely shapes how people work together.

I've also been surprised by how engaged everyone is with the wider sector. Every Friday, the business takes time to share what's happening across local government, public services and inclusive recruitment, which always sparks interesting discussions and fresh perspectives.

From a career perspective, I've worked on assignments spanning district councils through to combined authorities. Along the way, I've developed a much deeper understanding of local government, from reorganisation and elections to the impact of national politics on local services. It's given me confidence, broadened my knowledge and strengthened my interest in the sector.

What would you tell someone thinking about joining the team?

If you're looking for a supportive environment where people genuinely care about employee wellbeing, Tile Hill is worth serious consideration. The business values curiosity, authenticity and doing the right thing, not just filling roles and chasing fees.

My advice would be to spend some time looking at the company's values and consider whether they resonate with you. If they do, you'll probably feel at home here. And if you're unsure, do what I did before joining and speak to people in the public sector who know Tile Hill. The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, and my experience since joining has lived up to it.
